A special gathering of the leadership team at Maria Regina Grade School provided the perfect setting as Proman AG (Trinidad) Ltd pledged a total of $700,000 to fund the upgrade of the school's library and renovations.Tricia McPhillip, executive assistant, Proman AG (Trinidad) Ltd, touched upon the history between Proman and Maria Regina in her address, starting with the replacement of a multimedia system which had been destroyed in the school fire of 2009.
"This intervention of the company is further reinforcing its commitment to sustainable investment in the national community and the ongoing pursuit of empowerment through education," she said.The cheque was presented to principal Elizabeth Crouch (principal) and vice principal Frances Oblington by Arlene Ali and Tricia McPhillip of Proman AG.
Crouch told the gathering that "the contribution will go towards the development of the school's library which is inclusive of the purchase of additional books as the aim is to move from 1,000 books to more than 5,000 books, purchase audio and digital materials and assist in renovations and extensions to the school."
