Businesswoman Dr Surelia Reid, founder of SureWay Weight Loss Clinic, has received the International Star for Leadership in Quality Award in Paris.
Paris hosted this year's Business Initiative Directions (BID) International Star for Leadership in Quality Convention, where professionals and business leaders from around the world gathered to recognise excellence and success.
According to BID, award winners demonstrated commitment to the criteria of the QC100 TQM Model, which helps bolster customer satisfaction and cost efficiency across all areas of operation.
The ceremony was held earlier this month at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile (Concorde La Fayette) Convention Hall.
SureWay Weight Loss Clinic won the award in the Gold category in the presence of leaders and representatives from 49 countries at the International Star for Leadership in Quality Convention.
Reid, 40, got the opportunity to stand before the gathering of international leaders, sharing the company's achievements, as well as its future ambitions and goals.
BID's President & CEO Jose E. Prieto, expressed his satisfaction at Reid's participation in event.
"It was my pleasure to recognise you and your organisation in Paris along with other charismatic leaders from 49 countries. I appreciated very much your good cheer and optimism," he said.
He said BID noted how SureWay Weight Loss Clinic has taken steps towardsimprovement and continuous innovation and he offered help to strengthen the company;'s position with all stakeholders, including clients, employees and suppliers.
"This commitment is part of the Quality Mix programme, and our responsibility under the QC100 Model. In your organisation this award represents efforts oriented towards exceeding customer expectation, and this attitude has helped build your organisation's brand name and the reputation of your country, T&T," Prieto said.
Reid, 40, described her achievement as a "humbling honour to have copped this, my first international prestigious award."
Her clinic was nominated by previous winners and after several independent researches were done, it was voted the winner.
She told the T&T Guardian she thought it was bogus when she was told by her assistant that she had won the award.
"I did not even take it on for months until I got an email directly enquiring if I will be attending in April and I began to do some research on the company," she said.
Eventually, Reid arrived in Paris for just three days of the convention. While there, she met business people from all around the world and received offers to "open up shop" in other countries.
She is about to franchise the business as her goal is the number one selling franchise in the world.
"All my businesses will; be available for franchising to young entrepreneurs who want to own their own business but are unable to do so," she said.
