Ian De Souza has been appointed as the managing director of ANSA Merchant Bank Ltd.
De Souza's appointment was confirmed in a notice posted on the website of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange yesterday.
The notice stated that his appointment took effect from January 8, 2024.
De Souza had recently served as Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce Chief Executive Officer, after he replaced Gabriel Faria in January 2022. His stint came to an end six months later when he resigned from the post.
He retired from the Republic Bank Group as an executive director with specific responsibilities for Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited, where he was managing director and C.E.O.
He also previously served as general manage, Risk Management, general manager, Corporate & Investment Banking, president - Republic Bank (DR) S.A. in the Dominican Republic and managing director, Republic Finance & Merchant Bank Limited (Fincor).
De Souza holds of a BsC in Economics, a post-graduate diploma in Management and an executive MBA from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
He is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor, and he is certified in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Programme, a member of the American Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors Association and an Associate Member of the American Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
In an unrelated note, RBC Royal Bank (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited announced that Suzanne Seepersad has tendered her resignation from the Board of Directors of the Bank.
The announcement, which was carried as an advertisement in the newspapers on Tuesday, confirmed her resignation took effect from January 8, 2024.
