Managing director of Blue Waters Dominic Hadeed stressed the importance of employers working with their employees to cultivate the right work-life balance to support healthier lifestyles.
Hadeed spoke yesterday at the launch of the Gary Cooper Health and Wellness Room at the company's head office in Trincity.
The health and wellness room was dedicated to the memory of one of Blue Waters founding and longest serving employees, Gary Cooper, who died last year from a heart attack.
Challenging his employees to adopt a proactive approach to their health Hadeed said: "We all work hard to satisfy the customers, but let's also find the right work-life balance and let's do it and stay healthy"
He added: "If you take care of yourself early, it's (lifestyle diseases) preventable"
Struggling to hold back tears as he reflected on the life of his deceased colleague, Hadeed said he hoped that more employers would follow in Blue Waters footsteps to promote on-site health services for their employees.
Also speaking at the event, company COO Pradeep Subrian emphasised the importance of proper dietary practises in fostering healthy and productive workers
"It's important for all of us to mindful of what we eat and what's good for us" he said.
The company's health and wellness room is an in-house medical facility that provides employees with access to a physician a few times a month to do routine evaluations of their health and make the appropriate lifestyle changes where necessary.
