Ma­jor­i­ty state-owned na­tion­al car­ri­er Caribbean Air­lines Ltd (CAL), has been named the 2025 In­ter­na­tion­al­ly Known…T&T Owned Com­pa­ny of the Year.

The award, spon­sored by the Min­istry of Trade, In­vest­ment and Tourism, was an­nounced on Tues­day dur­ing the T&T Cham­ber’s “Cham­pi­ons of Busi­ness: True Sto­ries” se­ries.

This pres­ti­gious ac­co­lade is award­ed to a lo­cal­ly owned com­pa­ny that has made a sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to T&T’s econ­o­my and in­ter­na­tion­al rep­u­ta­tion.

CAL stood out among a group of nom­i­nees, earn­ing recog­ni­tion for its strate­gic ex­pan­sion across re­gion­al and in­ter­na­tion­al mar­kets and for its un­wa­ver­ing com­mit­ment to ser­vice ex­cel­lence.

Pre­vi­ous re­cip­i­ents of this award in­clude Chief Brand Prod­ucts, Carib Brew­ery, KC Con­fec­tionery and As­so­ci­at­ed Brands In­dus­tries Ltd.

CAL now joins this es­teemed group, hav­ing been ac­knowl­edged for its role in pro­mot­ing the T&T brand glob­al­ly and for be­ing a con­sis­tent sym­bol of na­tion­al pride and con­nec­tiv­i­ty.

Ki­ran Ma­haraj, pro­duc­er of the Cham­pi­ons of Busi­ness se­ries and the cham­ber’s im­me­di­ate past pres­i­dent, con­grat­u­lat­ed CAL on its achieve­ment and high­light­ed the air­line’s role in con­nect­ing the Caribbean to the world, de­scrib­ing it as more than just a car­ri­er.

“Caribbean Air­lines proud­ly fly­ing the red, white and black, has be­come more than a car­ri­er—it is the wings of our re­gion, con­nect­ing fam­i­lies, cul­tures, and na­tions across 27 des­ti­na­tions in the Caribbean, north and south Amer­i­ca,” she said.

In its 20th year, the Cham­pi­ons of Busi­ness Awards has be­come a cor­ner­stone event in the lo­cal busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty, cel­e­brat­ing in­no­va­tion, lead­er­ship, and the en­dur­ing im­pact of Trinidad and To­ba­go’s most in­flu­en­tial com­pa­nies.

CAL is 88.06 per cent owned by the T&T Gov­ern­ment and 11.94 per cent by the Gov­ern­ment of Ja­maica. The air­line’s board is chaired Rey­na Kow­lessar, an at­tor­ney, and com­pris­es vice chair, Videsh Praim and di­rec­tors, Shar­lene Ma­haraj, Amit Kr­is­han Ma­habir, Prof. Sel­wyn Cud­joe, Adam Moss, Lar­ren Peart and Ali­cia Ed­wards.
