Digicel Group has announced the appointment of Salvador “Salva” Hierrezuelo as its new group chief business officer, effective September 1, 2026, as the telecommunications provider seeks to strengthen its business solutions division and expand its enterprise offerings across the Caribbean and Central America.
Hierrezuelo joins Digicel after more than two decades with global telecommunications giant Telefónica, where he held a series of senior leadership positions across Latin America spanning enterprise technology, infrastructure, security, strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and business transformation.
Most recently, he led Movistar Empresas at Telefónica Chile, overseeing the company's business-to-business operations serving large corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises and public sector clients. During his tenure, the business achieved accelerated sales growth and returned to both revenue and margin growth.
Prior to his role in Chile, Digicel said Hierrezuelo served as chief operating officer of Telefónica Tech in Brazil.
In that position, he was responsible for developing the company's cloud and technology business, helping to drive significant growth while supporting expansion efforts through acquisitions.
Digicel Group CEO Marcelo Cataldo said Hierrezuelo's extensive experience in commercial leadership and technology would be valuable as the company continues to grow its enterprise segment.
“Salva brings a strong combination of commercial leadership, technology expertise and experience building and transforming B2B businesses at scale. As we continue to strengthen Digicel Business and deepen the value we bring to enterprises across our markets, his experience and perspective will be a great addition to the team. I’m delighted to welcome him to Digicel,” he said.
The appointment comes as telecommunications providers increasingly focus on enterprise services, cloud solutions, cybersecurity and digital transformation offerings as key growth areas beyond traditional consumer mobile and broadband services.
Commenting on his appointment, Hierrezuelo said he was looking forward to joining a company that plays a significant role in the region's telecommunications landscape.
"I’m very excited to be joining Digicel and to have the opportunity to work with a business that plays such an important role across the Caribbean and Central America. I’ve spent much of my career working at the intersection of telecommunications, technology and business transformation, and I’m looking forward to getting to know the team, our customers and our markets as we build the next chapter together,” he said.
Originally from Málaga, Spain, Hierrezuelo has built an international career that has taken him across several markets, including Brazil and Chile.
His professional background combines technical, operational and commercial expertise, particularly in the areas of enterprise technology and digital services.
He holds an International MBA from IE Business School and a Master of Science degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Málaga.
In addition to his native Spanish, he is fluent in English and Portuguese.
