Dig­i­cel Group has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Sal­vador “Sal­va” Hi­er­rezue­lo as its new group chief busi­ness of­fi­cer, ef­fec­tive Sep­tem­ber 1, 2026, as the telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions provider seeks to strength­en its busi­ness so­lu­tions di­vi­sion and ex­pand its en­ter­prise of­fer­ings across the Caribbean and Cen­tral Amer­i­ca.

Hi­er­rezue­lo joins Dig­i­cel af­ter more than two decades with glob­al telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions gi­ant Tele­fóni­ca, where he held a se­ries of se­nior lead­er­ship po­si­tions across Latin Amer­i­ca span­ning en­ter­prise tech­nol­o­gy, in­fra­struc­ture, se­cu­ri­ty, strat­e­gy, merg­ers and ac­qui­si­tions, and busi­ness trans­for­ma­tion.

Most re­cent­ly, he led Mo­vis­tar Em­pre­sas at Tele­fóni­ca Chile, over­see­ing the com­pa­ny's busi­ness-to-busi­ness op­er­a­tions serv­ing large cor­po­ra­tions, small and medi­um-sized en­ter­pris­es and pub­lic sec­tor clients. Dur­ing his tenure, the busi­ness achieved ac­cel­er­at­ed sales growth and re­turned to both rev­enue and mar­gin growth.

Pri­or to his role in Chile, Dig­i­cel said Hi­er­rezue­lo served as chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer of Tele­fóni­ca Tech in Brazil.

In that po­si­tion, he was re­spon­si­ble for de­vel­op­ing the com­pa­ny's cloud and tech­nol­o­gy busi­ness, help­ing to dri­ve sig­nif­i­cant growth while sup­port­ing ex­pan­sion ef­forts through ac­qui­si­tions.

Dig­i­cel Group CEO Marce­lo Catal­do said Hi­er­rezue­lo's ex­ten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence in com­mer­cial lead­er­ship and tech­nol­o­gy would be valu­able as the com­pa­ny con­tin­ues to grow its en­ter­prise seg­ment.

The ap­point­ment comes as telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions providers in­creas­ing­ly fo­cus on en­ter­prise ser­vices, cloud so­lu­tions, cy­ber­se­cu­ri­ty and dig­i­tal trans­for­ma­tion of­fer­ings as key growth ar­eas be­yond tra­di­tion­al con­sumer mo­bile and broad­band ser­vices.

Com­ment­ing on his ap­point­ment, Hi­er­rezue­lo said he was look­ing for­ward to join­ing a com­pa­ny that plays a sig­nif­i­cant role in the re­gion's telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions land­scape.

Orig­i­nal­ly from Mála­ga, Spain, Hi­er­rezue­lo has built an in­ter­na­tion­al ca­reer that has tak­en him across sev­er­al mar­kets, in­clud­ing Brazil and Chile.

His pro­fes­sion­al back­ground com­bines tech­ni­cal, op­er­a­tional and com­mer­cial ex­per­tise, par­tic­u­lar­ly in the ar­eas of en­ter­prise tech­nol­o­gy and dig­i­tal ser­vices.

He holds an In­ter­na­tion­al MBA from IE Busi­ness School and a Mas­ter of Sci­ence de­gree in Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion En­gi­neer­ing from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mála­ga.

In ad­di­tion to his na­tive Span­ish, he is flu­ent in Eng­lish and Por­tuguese.
