Moonilal meets three energy companies

Min­is­ter of En­er­gy Dr Roodal Mooni­lal and Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of En­er­gy, Ernesto Ke­sar, met with Peren­co, bpTT, and Wood­side En­er­gy on Tues­day to dis­cuss project up­dates. 

The min­istry said at the meet­ing, Dr Mooni­lal high­light­ed the Gov­ern­ment’s vi­sion for the en­er­gy sec­tor and for the re-emer­gence of T&T as the en­er­gy cap­i­tal of the re­gion in ad­di­tion to work­ing with stake­hold­ers to in­crease pro­duc­tion of the coun­try’s hy­dro­car­bon re­sources.  

The Min­is­ter re­ceived up­dates from Peren­co on its op­er­a­tions and com­mend­ed the com­pa­ny for the work it has done in the coun­try par­tic­u­lar­ly in ex­tend­ing the life of op­er­at­ing as­sets and for its ex­per­tise in un­lock­ing po­ten­tial from ma­ture and mar­gin­al fields. 

Peren­co em­pha­sised the im­por­tance of its op­er­a­tions to the com­pa­ny’s glob­al port­fo­lio and com­mit­ted to con­tin­ued fo­cus and in­vest­ment in the coun­try.  

The min­istry said Peren­co’s re­cent agree­ment with Wood­side En­er­gy con­cern­ing the ac­qui­si­tion of the Greater An­gos­tu­ra as­sets as well as on­go­ing work in the TSP (Teak Samaan Poui) Block as well as the CAFI (Cashima, Amher­s­tia, Flam­boy­ant, Im­mortelle and Parang) fields demon­strate the com­pa­ny’s com­mit­ment to pur­suit and pro­duc­tion of hy­dro­car­bon re­sources in T&T. 

The meet­ing with Wood­side En­er­gy high­light­ed the im­por­tance of its op­er­a­tions to the com­pa­ny’s glob­al port­fo­lio.

While the com­pa­ny has tak­en the de­ci­sion to di­vest its as­sets in the Greater An­gos­tu­ra area, Wood­side En­er­gy re­mains com­mit­ted to pur­su­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties in T&T as demon­strat­ed by the on­go­ing work in the Ca­lyp­so field with its joint ven­ture part­ner, bpTT.  

Dr Mooni­lal com­mend­ed the com­pa­ny for its work and re­it­er­at­ed the Gov­ern­ment’s in­ter­est in the pur­suit of projects such as Ca­lyp­so as a pri­or­i­ty. 

And with the meet­ing with bpTT, the min­is­ter recog­nised the strate­gies tak­en by the com­pa­ny to in­crease the com­pet­i­tive­ness of ex­ist­ing op­er­a­tions while pur­su­ing fu­ture de­vel­op­ments. 

BpTT ac­knowl­edged its long­stand­ing pres­ence as a ma­jor play­er in T&T ’s oil and gas sec­tor and em­pha­sised the im­por­tance of these op­er­a­tions to the com­pa­ny’s glob­al port­fo­lio.  

The com­pa­ny gave the as­sur­ance of its com­mit­ment to pur­sue op­por­tu­ni­ties in T&T, to fur­ther de­vel­op the hy­dro­car­bon re­sources of the coun­try as well as the ex­plo­ration of op­por­tu­ni­ties in sus­tain­able en­er­gy space. 

Dur­ing the meet­ing, the min­istry and bpTT dis­cussed and agreed on sev­er­al ar­eas of im­me­di­ate col­lab­o­ra­tion that would be pro­gressed to en­hance the con­tri­bu­tion of the com­pa­ny to the en­er­gy sec­tor.
