The body of a man which was found at the Marlin’s swimming pool on Morne Coco Road in Westmoorings last Wednesday, has been identified as Joshua Alexander, 18, from Diego Martin.
Guardian Media was told that fingerprints were lifted from the body and traced to the deceased’s relatives on Tuesday.
At the Forensic Science Centre yesterday, the body was positively identified by a female relative.
It was reported to the police that at about 5 pm last Wednesday, passers by heard screams coming from inside the compound. They had to cut their way into the the compound and saw Alexander’s body at the bottom of the pool. He was taken out the water and given CPR while an ambulance and the police were called.
Police also said they were told several young men jumped over the wall of the compound and were seen bathing in the pool.
It is believed that Alexander got into difficulties and went under but was left there by his friends, who ran away from the compound and never even bothered to notify the police of his identity when they sought help to do so.
