Barataria San Juan MP Sad­dam Ho­sein has hailed the con­struc­tion of the new Courts Mega­s­tore and plans for the new Mega Plaza as a pos­i­tive de­vel­op­ment for his con­stituen­cy.

“I’m so hap­py that they have cho­sen to stay right here in the heart of San Juan. What­ev­er sup­port that we can lend that is some­thing that we will do. Al­so, what­ev­er sup­port that they can lend to my con­stituents. That will al­so be wel­come, as com­pa­nies like this ought to play a very ac­tive role in the com­mu­ni­ty and their cor­po­rate so­cial re­spon­si­bil­i­ty. I’m very im­pressed with the store, as I said, gen­er­at­ing em­ploy­ment, eco­nom­ic ac­tiv­i­ty right here in Barataria, San Juan.”

Ho­sein said there had been sig­nif­i­cant de­vel­op­ments in the area, and he was hope­ful that he could over­see more sig­nif­i­cant de­vel­op­ment in the area so that it could be a ma­jor eco­nom­ic hub in the East-West cor­ri­dor.

“I want to en­sure that ours is one of the ma­jor eco­nom­ic hubs in Trinidad and To­ba­go for both whole­sale and re­tail. El So­cor­ro South is well-po­si­tioned. On this side of the high­way is well-po­si­tioned, al­so well-po­si­tioned for ease of ac­cess and so on. Projects like these, through fa­cil­i­ta­tion of the gov­ern­ment, will en­sure that we have that eco­nom­ic ac­tiv­i­ty,” he said, adding that un­der his purview as Min­is­ter of Land and Le­gal Af­fairs, he was look­ing at mea­sures to ad­dress se­cur­ing land tenure and land own­er­ship in a stream­lined man­ner.
