The Pouchet/Plum­mer duo is at it again for Panora­ma 2012. Gie Dem Tem­po is the ti­tle of the se­lec­tion PCS Ni­tro­gen Sil­ver Stars Steel Or­ches­tra is tak­ing to Panora­ma. It was com­posed by Ed­win Pouchet, with lyrics by Alvin Daniell, and vo­calised by Denyse Plum­mer. Pre­vi­ous songs that fea­tured the duo were: Iden­ti­ty-2003, Fren­zy-2005, and Wake Up-2011. Plum­mer, a for­mer Na­tion­al Ca­lyp­so Monarch, loves the steel­pan, and cred­its her rise as an en­ter­tain­er to her as­so­ci­a­tion with the in­stru­ment. Her ca­reer in en­ter­tain­ment had its roots in the pa­n­yard, singing mu­sic fash­ioned for the steel­pan. She said: "Re­mem­ber, that's how I start­ed off. It was Phase II Pan Groove and 'Boogsie' for the first four years of my ca­reer."

Dur­ing the next 20 years she es­tab­lished a re­la­tion­ship with Sil­ver Stars, be­com­ing a fix­ture on the Parang and Steel con­cert se­ries staged by the band at its Tra­garete Road, New­town, Port-of-Spain, head­quar­ters. At the 20th an­niver­sary con­cert in 2010, she was one of two en­ter­tain­ers who have had un­in­ter­rupt­ed ap­pear­ances on the play­bill. While pro­vid­ing vo­cals for pan com­po­si­tions from Mark Lo­quan, Plum­mer grew clos­er to Sil­ver Stars. Over the years Pouchet, leader and arranger of the band, chose sev­er­al of Lo­quan's songs, vo­calised by Plum­mer, as its tunes-of-choice for the Panora­ma com­pe­ti­tion. Plum­mer was the re­cip­i­ent of a Na­tion­al Award in 2011-Hum­ming Bird Medal (Gold)-for her con­tri­bu­tion to cul­ture.
