It was back to school for the first time in years for Machel Montano and Kees Dieffenthaller, when they preformed at their former school, Presentation College on January 29. The defending Groovy Soca Monarch and Power Soca Monarch champions performed on one stage for the second edition of Prestige: Gold Edition all-inclusive fete. Held on the college ground by the Presentation College Past Students Association, patrons of all ages gathered for a good time, among them former prime minister and past student Basdeo Panday; deputy House Speaker Lyndira Oudit; and former national cricket captain Daren Ganga.
Also on the entertainment was calypso icon, King David Rudder, who invoked loud roars of appreciation. Rudder gave a performance that had the attention of both young and mature adults, with his rendition of the classics Calypso Music and Laventille. However, when it came to having command of the stage, it was a toss up between Machel Montano HD and Kees the Band. Taking the stage first, the former Palmiste resident Kees and his brothers Jon and Hans blitz the crowd with hits such as Precision Wine, Ah Coming and Head Bad. Team HD, which included a group of exotic dancer, added the extra sensuality to the night. Machel, Farmer Nappy and Patrice Robert took over the stage and had partygoers soaked in perspiration and following every command given by the 2011 Road March champ.
