Today, at 10 am, a musical tribute will be held at Queen's Hall to celebrate the life of Ralph MacDonald, who passed away in the United States on December 18. The celebration is being hosted by MacDonald's widow Grace, under the auspices of the Ministry of Arts and Multiculturalism. A two-time Grammy Award winner, the renowned American percussionist was especially famous for his hit single Just the Two of Us, a song inspired by the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. MacDonald annually visited T&T to perform with Witco Desperadoes at Panorama. This year's competition is dedicated to him, along with Pat Bishop and Allyson Hennessy.
The huge cast of artistes billed to perform on today's programme, to be hosted by radio personality Holly Thomas, includes David Rudder, Robert Greenidge and Witco Desperadoes, Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, The Lydians, Roger George, Designer, Elsworth James, Black Stalin, Explainer, SuperBlue, Brother Valentino, Joe Brown & Mayaro, and entire cast of Now is the Time (Calypso for Africa) recording.
