Top entertainer Iwer "The Boss" George has picked up vital endorsements in his bid to become the new Digicel International Power Soca Monarch. Former International Power Soca Monarchs Bunji Garlin (Ian Alvarez) and wife Fay Ann Lyons-Alvarez have thrown their support behind "The Boss," following their decision to bow out of the competition produced by Caribbean Prestige Foundation for the Performing Arts (CPF), at least, for this year.
Machel Montano is the reigning International Power Soca Monarch and will be defending his title on February 17, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. He has also entered the Play Whe Groovy Soca Monarch category and will seek to defeat present titleholder Kees Dieffenthaller. Guardian Media Ltd is the official media partner for the soca monarch brands. Interviewed, Bunji Garlin predicted that "The Boss" would take the crown.
Fay-Ann shared her husband's choice to win the coveted title. She said: "I'm supporting all the artistes, but he (The Boss) is from Point Fortin, so I have to support him." Asked if she had any predictions for the groovy monarch category, Fay Ann said while she was feeling the vibes of Kerwin Du Bois and Nadia Batson, everything came down to performance.
