Thousands of chutney lovers paid tribute to Grammy-award winning singer Whitney Houston on Saturday night, during the tenth annual White Oak Chutney Brass show at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre. Houston was found dead in her fourth floor hotel room at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California, earlier in the day. On Saturday night, Anil Bheem, lead singer of the band, Beemers, took time out from his energetic performance to pay his respect to the legendary singer.
He told the sold-out crowd: "If you love Whitney Houston put your in the air," when he sang one of Houston's hit songs My Love Is Your Love. Bheem went on to say that Whitney Houston was a legend, a diva and one of the greatest singers in the world. He said: "Whitney, we love you and will miss you very much." Fans shouted: "Whitney we love you, rest in peace, we will never forget you." Bheem also performed another one of Houston's chart-topping hits, I Will Always Love You, prompting hundreds of fans to sing along.
