The 2012 Chut­ney So­ca Monarch com­pe­ti­tion, held at the Queen's Park Oval, may not have at­tract­ed as many fans as in pre­vi­ous years, but by pop­u­lar con­sen­sus the per­for­mances of the con­tes­tants were on par with and in some cas­es ex­ceed­ed those pre­sen­ta­tions of years gone by. Ris­ing chut­ney singer KI Per­sad took the ti­tle, close­ly fol­lowed by last year's win­ner Rik­ki Jai and Rick Ra­moutar.
