Chanting Jab Molassie! Point Fortin's Iwer George sent the crowd into a frenzy with his selection in the Power Category. Coated in oil, jab jabs glided across the stage. A derrick, a boat, two pumpin jacks and oil drums looked as though they had been plucked from a refinery. But about four minutes into the presentation, George stopped and exited. Musicians looked confused. The fireup crowd kept chanting "Iwer!" "Iwer!"
Instead a clean up crew began to work feverishly to clean the black oil paint that had rendered the stage slippery. Rumours circulated that he was trying to sabotage the show. Special adviser to CPF Chairman William Munro, Gregory Fernandez left the VVIP section to ensure smooth operations. Even a fireman was spotted rubbing his shoes to ensure it did not pose a threat to the artistes' safety. Blaxx was scheduled next. Presenter Adrian Don Mora informed the audience about the delay.
Another official said: "What is Iwer doing? Is he trying to sabotage the show. That happened before and Denyse Belfon refused to sing. There were rumours since Friday there would have been a riot." Efforts to contact George twice proved futile. An idividual who identified himself as his manager said: "I can't speak for Iwer. He came in at 9 am. It's jab jab the boy did." We have not discussed his second placing. We went liming and we just came in."
