Talk Tent celebrates 30th anniversary at Queen’s Hall

The Annual Carnival Talk Tent will celebrate it’s 30th Anniversary at Queen’s Hall Conference Centre from February 15 to 17.
The longest running Talk Show in T&T, it was first produced in 1983 by Paul Keens-Douglas and has established itself as an integral part of the post-carnival presentations.
The tent had its beginnings in a genuine canvas tent set up on Victoria Ave by Helen Camps to do her theatrical productions and over the years has made it’s home at several venues including
The Hollows, St Mary’s College, Astor Cinema, Arthur’s Pub, Roxy Cinema and finally at Queen’s Hall in 1991 where it has remained to this day.
With it’s motto Where Talk Is Art, the Talk Tent’s clean, quality humour, and creative material, makes it excellent entertainment for general and family oriented audiences.
It has developed a faithful following over the years and has provided a platform for many an aspiring talk artistes to display talent. Joining the cast as special guests this year will be popular singer
Raymond Edwards, Midnight Robber Rashid Hosein and singing MC Lord Superior, a connoisseur of vintage calypso.
Other performers include Paul Keens-Douglas, Miguel Browne, Felix Edinborough-the Pierrot, Farida Chapman, Talkcalypso Champ “Short Pants” and the thought-provoking team of Roy and Gloria.
An unsponsored show, the Talk Tent depends on the support of it’s fans, supporters and those who recognize the importance of its role in preserving this aspect of Caribbean culture.
Lucky patrons will be able to win the famous “Door” prize. It’s the only show in town where you get a real door.
Books, CD’s and DVD’s of the various artistes will also be available at special show prices. Tickets are priced at $150 and are available at Cleve’s, Crosby’s, RIK Gulf City/Trincity and Queen’s Hall. Call 632- 1647 or 624-1284.
