Distribution Tobago takes lion’s share in T&TEC kaiso competition

Distribution Tobago walked away with the lion’s share of prizes in T&TEC General Sports and Cultural Club’s annual kaiso competition at the St John’s Ambulance Hall, Wrightson Road Extension, Port-of-Spain on Friday.

 

From a field of eight, Tobago’s Phillips, a newcomer to the competition, walked away with the first prize with her rendition My Lovely Country. Darren Sandy, also from Distribution Tobago repeated his 2012 feat, cropping the road march title. His composition was also judged the most Humorous Calypso.

 

Distribution South Marielle (Darkie) Thomas’ composition We Want More Attention from T&TEC copped the prize for Best T&TEC Calypso. She also placed third in the competition. The People’s Choice and fourth place was won by Distribution East Ryan Affonso and Rydel Prescod singing as Heckle & Ryde. They sang a calypso titled We Come To Take Everything.

 

Other winners of the night were second place Fellie “The Mighty Strong Back” Noel with his song Let’s Save T&T, and fifth place Lloyd Harris singing This Carnival.
