They may have been too young to walk on their own, but they were not young to jump up in true Trini style!
Babies and toddlers, some in arms, got their first taste of Carnival as they had fun in the sun at the Pointe-a-Pierre Children's Carnival 2013 celebrations at Guaracara Park, Marabella, on Sunday.
Butterflies, angels and Fancy Indians reigned at the popular annual Sunday afternoon event which saw children three years and under straight up to 18 years vie for top prizes.
The event started promptly at 1.40 pm after blessings from Monsignor Michael De Verteuil.
First to appear before the judges was one year-old cutie Johanna Jumratee portraying Macana, the Healing Angel from the band Legall and Friends, Gems of the Chakras.
Little Johanna, who had to be held by two adults so she could stand, was dressed in a royal purple sequined dress with matching wings and feathered headpiece.
Although she was apprehensive at first, she quickly got into the music and started "bouncing" to Super Blue's Fantastic Friday tune.
Two year-old Chelsey Mohammed, portraying Santinkaa "Sioux" (Magical Dancer) also captured the audience's attention with her vibrant yellow and red feathered headpiece which was the same length of her tiny frame. Her portrayal was from the band Southern Mas Associates.
The boys were not to be outdone as two year-old Alex Persad, dressed in a white sailor suit with a fancy green fish on the back, chipped confidently before the judges in.
He was followed by the Antonio Rampersad portraying Prince of the Sea. This cutie thrilled with his bright blue octopus-like costume complete with sea horses.
