Old Hilarians’ Carnival fete—all grown up in 2014

Friday, December 20, 2013

The Old Hilarians’ all-inclusive Carnival fete is all grown up this year. It’s been 18 years since the Bishop’s girls started the first all-inclusive fund-raising fete to be hosted by a secondary school. Over the years, the event has grown from strength to strength, and 2014 promises to be the best yet.

The fete takes place on February 1, 2014, at the school grounds on Abercromby Street in Port-of-Spain, from 5 pm to midnight.

The Old Hilarians’ fete has consistently earned its reputation as one of the premier all-inclusive events on the Carnival social calendar.

The electricity and excitement one feels on entering the venue are palpable. The fierce loyalty of its patrons is a true testament to the bacchanalian experience offered—mountains of sumptuous food, flowing premium drinks, and top-tier performances that have all come to mark the Old Hilarians’ fete experience.

In 2014 the fete will feature four bands. Patrons will enjoy the music of the Asylum Vikings, with Fay-Ann and Soul Train Award winner Bunji Garlin, Dil-e-Nadan, Roy Cape All Stars, and Destra and Bakanal. As always, the fete will feature premium bars (inclusive of wine and cocktail bars) and a wide array of food for all palates. This year the team will also continue to have something special for the guys that’s “good for the back.”

Widely known as one of the “must attend” events for the Carnival season, the fete is the principal fund-raiser for the school. Over the years, proceeds have assisted with funding capital-intensive projects such as the construction of two new classroom blocks, the repainting of the First Form building, the repairing of the school toilets, the enclosing and refurbishment of the school hall, and the landscaping of the beautiful grounds that all have come to know and love.

Tickets cost $800 and are available from committee members Tonya (344-2334); Jeniece (791-8633); Debbie (681-2531); and Wanda (478-0035).
