However, the reality must be that the western world has never lived happily with a culture and religion outside its own "Christian" and allied secular ethic. So the political direction of the revolution is unknown; in fact it cannot be known here and now. Such clarity has to crystalise through a process of discussion and the emergence of the political and cultural ethic desirous of the people. Fact is that it may even take a few "revolutions" to tease out what are the real aspirations and desires of the people who went to Tahrir Square. They knew they had had enough but are unsure of what exactly they want. Very importantly, what emerges in Egypt can be influential in what happens in the entire Middle East. The populations of Jordan, Yem-en, Algeria, Tunisia and other parts of the region are in foment, looking for direction out of which could be called the Egyptian Revolution.
