Considering our small population and territorial size, we must realise that for the country to move forward, we need all hands on deck. This is not a new message. However, by highlighting the aforementioned tangible examples of how division is limiting our potential it is my hope that some people will be jarred into realising that more must be done in an attempt to make the country more inclusive. To do this, we need to ignite a real debate on race. One which allows several voices to be heard and which can channel the sentiments into some meaningful, achievable actions to start healing wounds which run deep in our fractured society. So, let us focus not on the messenger but heed the message of Weston Cro Cro Rawlins to former UNC leader, Basdeo Panday in the controversial 2008 calypso: Trinbago, it is time we 'look in the mirror'.
