Crime, corruption- Does PP really care?
A beleaguered and embattled Prime Minister appears to be crying out nationally for help in the fight against crime, especially when there are fluctuating periods of spikes in the murder rate, but to what extent are those pleas backed up by effective and meaningful action? Have the Prime Minister and those in her Cabinet really understood the true meaning of national security or is the latest ploy another political gimmick and public relations exercise?
Demonstration of any serious intent to take national security to a higher level would have resulted in a proactive course of action since her ascension to office on May 24, 2010. Astute prudence and insightful leadership would have lent itself to maximise the opportunity to continue building, enhancing and developing the national border security strategy and policy from the previous administration.
This approach was indeed necessary to establish a formidable fight against the sophistication of international criminal organisations becoming well entrenched in their transnational organised criminal activities. As chairman of the National Security Council, such a course of action would have shown our regional and international allies our unflinching commitment, dedication and determination to comply and fulfil our international obligations. But that was not the case.
