You must believe They Talk, We Deliver Green!’
‘Tis the season for loud music, plenty talk and big money spending. Not Christmas. Or Carnival. T&T’s next favourite pastime, election season, is now bombarding the atmosphere with the slogans of the leading contenders in the October 21 local government polls. PNM’s You Must believe new uptempo tune conveys its aim to convince the electorate of its improved status, as well as offerings.
PP’s legend that “They Talk, We Deliver” promotes the Government’s achievements. And ILP’s boast that everybody “...Gone Green” testifies to its status as party du jour and the latest political style. Whether Mr and Mrs T&T makes political choices in the same way they would a handbag or footwear (designer rips off or not) remains to be seen.
Recent campaign launches by PNM, ILP and the PP didn’t appear challenged by the number of election activities T&T has had since January, with the Tobago polls and Chaguanas West’s July exercise. Interest is keen, perhaps due to the preceding elections and the fight for political survival, all likely to make this local government poll unlike others. It’s also the era of TV production campaigning and boom camera portrayals of strategically-placed crowds which helped the PP in 2010 and recently aided the ILP’s thrust.
