I met Rob Burton, Cae Menai Davis and Otis Roberts at the University Club last week. I couldn't resist the lure of their bright orange T-shirts emblazoned with the Jason Roberts Foundation, Dash and Golf Trust logos. They were in Grenada for a week as part of the Jason Roberts Foundation's 2013/14 Physical Education for Children with Special Needs Programme, and were staying at the club courtesy of St George's University, one of the trip's sponsors.
They agreed to my doing a ride-along on with them on Thursday. They would host a sports day after conducting clinics over the previous three days at the St Andrew's School for Special Education, Grenville; the Grenada School for Special Education (known as the Limes), St George's; and Victoria School, St Patrick's.On the day before Grenada's 40th independence anniversary, like many Grenadians, the pupils and teachers of both the Limes and St Andrew's wore the national colours, red, yellow and green. The Limes' principal Anne Pierre, MBE, wore a red dress with yellow and green buttons as she bustled around her school.
