The Tropical Angel Harps Senior and Junior Steel Orchestra topped the Chaguanas Carnival Committee's Pan on The Move competition held on Carnival Monday night.
The Senior band placed first while the Juniors placed third. In second place was Couva Joylanders.
The Curepe Polyphonics won the small band category while the Magoc Notes Rebirth Steel Orchestra and the New Age TrendSetters tied for second.
The event attracted thousands of spectators along the Chaguanas Main Road.
The event began shortly after 8 pm with the New Age TrendSetters led by Glenford Sobers, who lost his leg due to diabetes. However, being on a wheelchair did not stop Sobers, 73, from playing with his band.
Carnival Committee chairman Orlando Nagessar said he was happy the event ran smoothly without any incidents and congratulated the police for maintaining law and order. However, Nagessar said he was not happy with the DJs close to the judging points.
He said the competition was delayed somewhat because police had to appeal to some of the DJs to turn off their music while the orchestras were playing.
He said next year he would be advocating to have all DJs near the judging point removed.
