The last time I went Preysal, I passed the turn-off on the highway, straight, straight. The sign that used to be there indicating the turnoff was gone. I complained to a road engineer. "But everybody know where the exit is!", he said. When the overpass to Morvant junction and the Lady Young road was first constructed, the sign pointing to the turn-off was put up after the exit. Another smartman from the Ministry of Works simply could not understand why I was agitated, "buh everyone know where the exit is!"
Last Wednesday's Guardian had an interesting letter by Susan Henry. If the "authorities" would follow half of the sensible suggestions that Guardian letter writers send in, this would be a much more pleasant and organised country to live in.Ms Henry's letter was titled "No directions to Piarco airport" and is about the trials of a relative of hers from the USA, visiting T&T, after he rented a car at Piarco. She sarcastically points out that "he was able to find his way into Port-of-Spain." More of that later. On the way back, he missed the airport turn-off and ended up in Arima because there was no sign. Ha ha ha! This is so funny. Especially for visitors. Allawe know where the turn-off is!
