Communication Minister Vasant Bharath might have had leeway to crack a yawn at 10.39 am during Tuesday's Senate session.
At that moment his colleague PP Senate leader Ganga Singh was on his legs energetically helping Bharath's portfolio by answering–at length–on how much WASA had done to expand availability of the water supply. Singh used the opportunity offered by an Opposition PNM query on the matter to detail work in all 41 constituencies (plus costs), a situation the PNM should have expected in response to a fairly straightforward question.
But Singh was meticulous to a fault, if more than a little wordy. Later, PNM senator Faris Al Rawi took just as energetic a turn when he went after Attorney General Anand Ramlogan's criticisms concerning his receipt of the Police Complaints Authority's report on the Flying Squad issue. "...I have a fourfoot mailbox," Al Rawi quipped. "Treason" and "mailbox" size apart, how the report has come to light has raised not only the matter of what will be done with it after this, but also whether the revelation of contents may have corrupted the process and impaired any possible future action.
