I have read the story about Cletus and watched the video about this loyal service dog about 100 times, and I am still touched by how many lessons there are to learn from this story that popped up on the Internet last week. Animals teach us so much about life–once we're willing to recognise the lessons they provide for us to learn.
On May 14, 2014, Cletus, a black and white service dog with a long, sad face exaggerated no doubt by his drooping jowl, showed up at the graduation ceremony for Idaho State University (ISU) students in Pocatello, Idaho. Cletus had been invited to cross the stage with all of the graduates.
For obvious reasons, Cletus, who might have been named after a character on The Simpsons, did not wear a cap and gown. He wore his working clothes, a bright, red harness with the words "Service Dog Seizure Alert" written in noticeably large letters across the sides of the harness.
