Riotous. That was the atmosphere in the Lower House yesterday with Planning Minister Bhoe Tewarie under heavy attack by PNM MPs including Keith Rowley and Marlene McDonald as he tried to speak on certain issues.Tewarie, who is known for his full-throated routinely sharp retorts to PNM attacks in either House, is not the PNM's favourite person. It may be Finance Minister Larry Howai who PNM's Faris Al-Rawi lavishly praised last week for his easy-going demeanour and other aspects.
Howai has confirmed to this column he'd expected the Life Sport draft audit report would have been ready for his review by last Friday but certain new matters which were raised, means it would have taken more time before he saw the report. However, Tewarie's report to Parliament yesterday on cable car ideas for Laventille and the Invaders' Bay issue, brought the full spectrum of PNM sarcasm, dismissal, anger and shouted protests based on various contentions.
It also included hostility, a point Tewarie noted. And paid the price of McDonald's loud, full-blown ire for it, setting the pace for the rest of PNM's shouted, argumentative actions.Yesterday's PNM "Battle with Bhoe" in which deputy Speaker Nela Khan had to repeatedly shout at the fulminating PNM side to regain order, followed the tone of Wednesday's acrimonious Senate exchanges when Attorney General Anand Ramlogan responded bitingly to Tuesday's attack on him by Al-Rawi.
