The nation seems to be at a stalemate now with the locking of horns between the PM and Dr K.Dr K in a practically one-man show has taken on the Government, unrelenting in his hunger strike, insisting he does not want to die but when his body relents, he insists they can do whatever they want with him then. He has been on his hunger strike for 21 days now, his life hanging precariously in the balance.
The nation is watching on helplessly, many civil and religious groups coming out frantically from the woodwork to save this man.The PM and her Cabinet insist they can do nothing, the matter is in the hands of the court.
However in the midst of this argument, the highway's construction is proceeding and the controversial highway would most likely have been built or almost completely built by the time the matter comes up in the Privy Council. So herein lies the truth. Where really is the justice in this so-called hearing by the Privy Council and how could the PM stand foolishly by and argue this stance?
As a leader and a woman where is her compassion? As a leader of a nation, where is her sense of compromise, negotiation and fair play? As a human being, where is her humanity?
Does she not realise that by stepping forward and stepping out of the Cabinet prison, by simply having some form of dialogue, she will win worlds of admiration, respect and a renewed sense of hope from not just her supporters but all those looking and waiting to see what she will do next, which may very well determine her votes in the next general election?
And if solely from a strategic point of view, then it is her best option. She has nothing to lose but everything to gain.So let us not tighten the reins of stubbornness and tyranny, but shed our heartlessness and open a window of enlightened thinking and progressiveness with dialogue.
