The dark, murderous and violent days of the past decade, shows no sign of abating as the country enters 2014.Already there is a spate of dastardly acts perpetrated on several citizens across the country. Demons are stalking both organisations and private citizens in our land.A catalogue of recommendations and suggestions is being offered to address and remedy this situation.
However, no right-thinking person can reasonably expect any immediate resolution since the genesis of this problem will not permit any quick fix.A problem of this magnitude is the result of many years of ineffective and inefficient measures.Many people still seem to be grappling with and are unaware of the dimension of this problem and the extraordinary efforts that will be necessary to correct what is now a menace.
Responsibility is being assigned to the government, police service, religious bodies, NGOs, CBOs, parliamentarians, parents, etc.Each entity has some responsibility in resolving these issues. It cannot be done through a singular effort in our undisciplined society. Those who have taken careful note would have observed the number of heinous crimes being committed by young people between the ages of 15 and 30.
This tells a very significant story about failures that haunt our country. There are young people who have not benefited, for a variety of reasons, from the education system over the past 15 to 20 years.
