STOLLMEYER, MARJORIE (Bennetts)

STOLLMEYER, MARJORIE (Bennetts) died peacefully at her home in Montreal, Canada on January 16th, 2011 – just 6 months short of her 100th birthday. She was born on July 3, 1911 to Charles and May Newbold, raised and educated in Trinidad and London, England. In 1936 she migrated to Canada to marry Rex Stollmeyer, one of Trinidad’s first diplomats who was the son of A.V. Stollmeyer. Rex was also Commissioner General of the Trinidad & Tobago pavilion at Expo ’67 - the World’s Fair in Montreal - and passed away in 1968. Majorie later married Dr. Carl Bennetts, who passed away in 1994. She is survived by her sister: Barbara Knowles of Barbados, son: David Stollmeyer (Vicki) of Glen Ellen, California, two grandchildren: Allison Gorelick (Jeff) and Michael Stollmeyer (Elisa), and four greatgrandsons. Her funeral was held in Montreal in January.
