Uzi and ammo seized in El Dorado
Police seized a high powered gun and several rounds of ammunition yesterday morning in El Dorado. At around 4.30 am, officers from the Tunapuna Crime Patrol Unit headed by Cpl Lackraj were on mobile patrol along the Eastern Main Road near the Aquarius Restaurant and Bar when they approached and challenged two men in a Nissan Almera.
The vehicle was searched and police said they found an Uzi submachine gun with 20 rounds of .45 ammunition under the passenger seat. The suspects, a 20-year-old Tunapuna man and a 21-year-old of Lapouche Trace in Cunupia were arrested. Up to late yesterday, they were being traced and interviewed by the police. Investigations are continuing.
