Less than a week after Nataniel Prince was chopped to death during a taxi hijacking, three cousins appeared in court yesterday charged with his murder.Bertiba O'Connor, 18, a construction worker of Moruga, Wayne Boodram, 19, and Kareem Christopher, 22, a culinary arts student, both of Toradale, Ste Madeleine stood before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando Magistrate's Court.
The three men, who were arrested shortly after Prince's murder, were charged by acting Sgt Ramroop on Thursday night after instructions of Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard.Prince, 24, of Moonan Branch Road No 3, Manahambre Road, was the passenger in a taxi on Saturday night when it was hijacked by three passengers. The driver Lorenzo Gonzales escaped.The police later found Prince's body on the side of the road at Clarke Road, Penal.
An autopsy said Prince's head was almost decapitated in the cutlass attack.Providing legal representation for the accused were attorney Dane Halls for O'Conner, attorney Sean Sobers for Boodram and attorney Ravi Pariagsingh for Christopher.The magistrate adjourned the matter to July 15 and transferred it to the Siparia Magistrate's Court.
