The magistrate courts in south Trinidad are expected to be busy today after the arrest of over 200 people for various offences during police exercises over the weekend.Five stolen vehicles were recovered and a 9mm pistol and several rounds of ammunition were also seized by southern division police.The exercises, coordinated by Snr Supt Cecil Santana, were conducted in Moruga, Princes Town, Ste Madeleine, Cocoyea, Pleasantville, Marabella, Gasparillo, Claxton Bay, San Fernando, La Romaine and environs.
Police said people were arrested for narcotics, robberies, larceny, driving under the influence, and outstanding warrants.In addition 139 traffic tickets were issued and 975 stop and search exercises conducted.Also involved in the exercises, assisted by a national security helicopter, were Supts Mohammed and James, ASP Maynard and Gaffor and Sgt Vijay Ramdhanie.
