The trial over the murder of businesswoman Vindra Naipaul-Coolman is expected to resume before Justice Malcolm Holdip in the Port-of-Spain Assizes this morning.The 12-member jury had a five-day break after the case was adjourned last Thursday, when state witness WPC Greer Britton-Lawrence reported ill.Britton-Lawrence, the State's 48th witness, began testifying last Tuesday.
Defence attorney Wayne Sturge was expected to complete his cross-examination of Britton-Lawrence last week, but is now expected to conclude with her today. The State's next witness, Lou-Ann Joseph–who also reported sick last week–is expected take the stand today as well.While the jury was given a break, attorneys on both sides are said to have dealt with a number of legal arguments that arose last week.
Britton-Lawrence took the stand last week Tuesday and testified about her interaction with seven of the accused men.Of that number, Britton-Lawrence confirmed she had secured DNA samples from five of them, to be tested for DNA.
