Police officers of the Eastern Division Task Force discovered about 152 kilograms of marijuana and four cases of Du Maurier cigarettes in several crocus bags in bushes at a remote beach, between Grande Riviere and Matelot around 5 am yesterday morning.The drugs have an estimated street value of $1.5 million.
Public Affairs Officer of the TTPS, Superintendent Joanne Archie, told the T&T Guardian the officers, who were led by Senior Superintendent Sasenarine Mahabir, along with Corporal Diaz, received information and conducted surveillance in the area before making the bust.
They believe the contraband may have been sneaked into the country via boat.No one was arrested.
