THE PARTNERS and Staff of Hobsons regret to announce the death of their former esteemed Senior Partner who died on 23rd December, 2014. Krishna Narinesingh was born on 27th November, 1932, and attended San Fernando Boys R.C School and St Mary's College, Port of Spain. He was enrolled as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Trinidad and Tobago and admitted to practice in 1959. He was also admitted to practice in the United Kingdom, Guyana and Grenada. He served for several years on the Council of the Incorporated Law Society of Trinidad and Tobago and also served as a member of its Disciplinary Committee. He first commenced practice at the firm of K. Narinesingh and Co., which firm merged with the practice of T.M. Kelshall & Sons in 1962 and was appointed a Notary Public in 1963 by the Archbishop of Canterbury. He formed the firm Laurence Narinesingh and Co., in 1964 and practiced as a partner thereof developing legal expertise specializing in corporate, commercial, insurance, banking, industrial law and industrial relations and real estate. The firm of Laurence and Narinesingh merged with the practice of Hobson and Chatoor in 1979 and formed the firm Hobsons. He continued as one of the senior partners thereof focusing in the law and practice relating to commerce and industry with special emphasis on aviation, energy, national and international trade and finance, banking and insurance, acquisition and mergers. He served as Vice President of the South Trinidad Chamber of Industry and Commerce and was instrumental together with others in developing the concept of and pioneering the founding of the Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation Limited and served professionally and diplomatically in the establishment of certain industries located thereon. He was a founding member of the International Lawyers Group, a network of eminent international business lawyers embracing 52 of the world's most economically important cities and served as its Secretary and Chairman. He was conferred with honorary membership in 2007 upon retirement from practice. During his lifetime, Krishna Narinesingh served on the Boards of many prominent local and foreign companies and was at one time one of the longest serving local directors of the Royal Bank and Barbados Mutual (now Sagicor). He was the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic from 1998 to the time of his death and served as Dean of the Consular Corps of Trinidad and Tobago. He was presented with the Chaconia Medal Silver by His Excellency the President on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the independence of Trinidad and Tobago on the 31st August, 1997 for long and meritorious service to the Republic in the sphere of law, trade and commerce. Krishna Narinesingh retired from the firm of Hobsons in 2007 and continued thereafter as its Legal Consultant up until the time of his death. His wise counsel and advice to the firm, his friends and all those to whom he had a personal, business and professional relationship will sorely be missed.
