In this in­no­v­a­tive ex­pan­sion of the ca­lyp­so, Spar­row, while demon­strat­ing his own ge­nius, was cre­at­ing space for so­ca and all its present de­riv­a­tives to grow. More than what any gov­ern­ment of­fi­cial, diplo­mat or gov­ern­ment has done, Spar­row has brought recog­ni­tion to this coun­try and one of its two pre­mier art forms with­out any de­pen­dent lean­ing on the State and gov­ern­ment for as­sis­tance. All of the above have mere­ly giv­en a glimpse in­to the con­tri­bu­tion of this cul­tur­al icon. In these his gold­en years as he re­mains vi­brant, still ca­pa­ble of en­gag­ing and in­fus­ing a new gen­er­a­tion with ca­lyp­so. Trinidad and To­ba­go needs to recog­nise this tran­scend­ing gift to the na­tion and to suit­ably and con­stant­ly ho­n­our and praise King Spar­row.
