Singers vie for $350,000 in NCIC prize money

Over $300,000 is up for grabs when the finals of the National Council for Indian Culture’s (NCIC) Classical Singing and Local Song competition come up on August 25. On August 5 the semifinal round of the competition took place at the Divali Nagar site, Chaguanas. Surujdeo Mangaroo, public relations officer of the NCIC, said 13 finalists in the Classical Singing competition will vie for a top prize of $100,000, while nine finalists in the Local Song competition will compete for a grand prize of $30,000. Admission to the finals is by invitation only.
