Though not considered by the television commentators to have been one of the favoured teams (in fact they adopted something of a patronising tone after the Duckworth/Lewis victory against the Titans), the T&T Red Force demonstrated the value of teamwork, spirit and discipline in reaching the semifinals of the Karbonn Smart CLT. When it was clear that the Red Force would qualify, Indian commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar was forced to admit that "T&T has surprised us."
This emergence into the semi-finals is even more significant when it is considered that this has been done without T&T having the services of three significant players: Dwayne Bravo, Keiron Pollard and Kevon Cooper, all of whom are playing for professional franchises in the tournament.
What has been very impressive has been the continuous improvement in the team's batting, progressing through totals of 135, 166, 188 and 119 for two against Chennai Super Kings to take victory within the 17-over limit to gain the additional bonus of finishing in top place in the group.
