After five years in the industry, popular local Rock "n" Roll band, Jointpop, hasn't forgotten what Christmas means to the underprevileged. And with this in mind, the band performed live, once again, at the annual Noise and Toys concert on December 14, at The Next Door Pub on Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.
The event doubled as the Jointpop's Christmas office party and a toy collection concert. Patrons were asked to bring a gift wrapped toy together with the door entry of $40, and all toys collected on the night were then distributed to various children's homes across the country. There was just one rule, no guns were allowed as gifts.
Cheyenne Hector, son of jointpop's lead singer and head, Gary Hector, said that more than 100 gifts were collected up to the night and, while it wasn't close to what was considered average, he and the band were expecting fans and well-wishers to continue donating as has happened in the past. "We should be receiving more gifts in the coming days, fans will continue to drop them off."
The band performed to a full house, including many fellow performers in the genre, such as singers, Cathy Ella; 95 Radio host, Mike Ross; artist Che Lovelace; and Robert Beadon, former frontliner of band's Touchdown and Jaundice-I, who resides in the UK.
