The new year kicked off in high gear on Jan­u­ary 1, with the host­ing of the Yorke Inc an­nu­al New Year's Day Dutch par­ty at Ann Av­enue in Diego Mar­tin. Guests were dressed el­e­gant­ly, the mu­sic was crisp, and pre­mi­um drinks flowed. The live en­ter­tain­ment be­gan with so­ca artiste Ed­die Charles from the band Traf­fik, who sang a few num­bers be­fore in­tro­duc­ing Jadel, a new ad­di­tion and lead singer to the band for the Car­ni­val sea­son. She joined the band just af­ter Mi­a­mi Car­ni­val in Oc­to­ber 2009.

Jadel learnt the hard way that try­ing to lip sync was not as easy as it looked. Even though she tried the art over her own vo­cals, she found her­self out of sync, and even­tu­al­ly cur­tailed her per­for­mance. Those in at­ten­dance didn't seem to mind very much, as they kept on danc­ing in prepa­ra­tion for an­oth­er pop­u­lar so­ca artiste, Sean Caruth.
