The new year kicked off in high gear on January 1, with the hosting of the Yorke Inc annual New Year's Day Dutch party at Ann Avenue in Diego Martin. Guests were dressed elegantly, the music was crisp, and premium drinks flowed. The live entertainment began with soca artiste Eddie Charles from the band Traffik, who sang a few numbers before introducing Jadel, a new addition and lead singer to the band for the Carnival season. She joined the band just after Miami Carnival in October 2009.
Jadel learnt the hard way that trying to lip sync was not as easy as it looked. Even though she tried the art over her own vocals, she found herself out of sync, and eventually curtailed her performance. Those in attendance didn't seem to mind very much, as they kept on dancing in preparation for another popular soca artiste, Sean Caruth.
