Stu­dents of the Tu­na­puna Gov­ern­ment Sec­ondary had their op­por­tu­ni­ty to see their favourite artistes per­form close up last Fri­day, when the Dig­i­cel Lyric and Song band­wag­on rolled un­to the school's com­pound.Over 500 stu­dents, from forms one to five, were all equipped with their gear, cour­tesy of Dig­i­cel, as they took their seats un­der the shade of tents. The ex­cite­ment was ev­i­dent through­out, as stu­dents and teach­ers alike just could not stay in their seats as guest artistes per­formed their hits for the 2011 sea­son.

An open­ing ad­dress was de­liv­ered by spokesman, Shel­don Ma­son, who utilised a clever mix of pop­u­lar so­ca hits to ed­u­cate the young­sters on the dan­gers of sex­u­al­ly-trans­mit­ted dis­eases and the im­por­tance of ab­sti­nence un­til mar­riage-a mes­sage that was well re­ceived by all.First to take the stage was Makamil­lion and Or­lan­do Oc­tave of the Mil­lion­aire fam­i­ly. The dy­nam­ic duo de­liv­ered an en­er­getic per­for­mance, which in­clud­ed their hit songs Pump it Up and Bub­ble. Their clam­or­ing fans could not help but sing along.

Next was Umi Mar­cano, a new com­er to the tour, who was an in­stant suc­cess as he worked the court­yard with his smooth ren­di­tions of so­ca and elec­tri­fy­ing dance moves. One lucky fan even got the op­por­tu­ni­ty to join Umi in his per­for­mance of his so­ca smash, Move That Body.The ac­tion con­tin­ued to flow with a per­for­mance from the school's so­ca band, which per­formed a well or­ches­trat­ed med­ley of cur­rent par­ty songs, much to the de­light of their cheer­ing peers.Bring­ing the cur­tain down was en­ter­tain­er Zig­gy Rank­ing, who used his unique vo­cals to de­liv­er a full reper­toire of pop­u­lar songs full of pos­i­tive mes­sages to close the day's tour in fine style.
