Car­ni­val 2011 in Trinidad and To­ba­go is off to an en­er­getic and spir­it­ed start! In an­tic­i­pa­tion of an ex­cit­ing sea­son, the Ly­di­ans in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Nor­mandie ho­tel will be of­fer­ing a spe­cial event-a m&ea­cute;lange of mu­si­cal and per­for­mance art fla­vor in­cor­po­rat­ing a col­or­ful blend of pan, mas, the­ater and a jam­min' cho­rus line-all of the right el­e­ments of Car­ni­val in Trinidad and To­ba­go.

A Car­ni­val Callaloo will launch on March 1, at 8.30 pm, at The Nor­mandie Ho­tel as a spe­cial­ly fea­tured show in the line up of con­certs Un­der the Trees at the Nor­mandie. This con­cert will pay trib­ute to com­pos­er, arranger and steel­pan per­former, Ray Hol­man.

The show will prove to be an en­joy­able evening of Car­ni­val favourites with spe­cial per­for­mances by ca­lyp­son­ian Lord Su­pe­ri­or, the Paramin Blue dev­ils and tra­di­tion­al sailor mas by vet­er­man mas man Ralph Dayette and the Mount Hope Con­nec­tion. The Ly­di­ans will add spe­cial zest to the pot with a vi­brant ca­lyp­so cho­rus line with cos­tumes by Glen Car­val­ho and mu­si­cal arrange­ment by renowned To­ba­go folk arranger John Ja­cob.

New mas will al­so be in abun­dance as Car­val­ho presents his 2011 por­tray­al, The Nile. Pel­ham God­dard's re­cent­ly reen­er­gised band, Roots, will al­so take cen­tre stage with spe­cial guests per­form­ers Bian­ca Hull, All Rounder, Dwayne O'Con­nor, Lu­ta and Roger George. A spe­cial lagniappe by the en­er­getic duo of Paul Noel and Cliffton Lewis-Re­gen­er­a­tion Now-will in­cor­po­rate se­lect favourites from Car­ni­val of yes­ter­year in­clud­ing a med­ley of Lord Kitch­en­er's vin­tage clas­sics.
