From ear­ly Jan­u­ary to late Feb­ru­ary the famed school tour which is the col­lab­o­ra­tive ef­fort of bmo­bile, the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion and Boom Cham­pi­ons 94.1 FM has brought the gift of mu­sic, per­for­mance and lo­cal cul­ture to 18 schools across Trinidad and To­ba­go. For the school tour's fi­nal stop, the cul­tur­al am­bas­sadors brought the So­ca sparkle to the bright, ea­ger stu­dents of the British Acad­e­my School.

This fun and fes­tive oc­ca­sion which meshed ed­u­ca­tion with en­ter­tain­ment was high­light­ed by ap­pear­ances from pos­i­tive So­ca artiste role mod­els such as Bun­ji Gar­lin, Fay Ann Lyons-Al­varez, Fire­ball, De­von Matthews and up and com­er Kona­ta Al­leyne.

British Acad­e­my school ad­min­is­tra­tor Karen Macken­zie shared, "I think the whole idea of the school tour is very good and the kids have been very en­thu­si­as­tic about it. See­ing pro­fes­sion­als per­form is an in­spi­ra­tion to them and it keeps them cul­tur­al­ly in tune. Prin­ci­pal of the British Acad­e­my, Bren­don Butts of­fered this state­ment, "This ini­tia­tive is fan­tas­tic es­pe­cial­ly with re­gards to an in­ter­na­tion­al school. Hav­ing these artistes here helps sev­er­al of our kids gain cul­tur­al ex­pe­ri­ence. It gives many of our lo­cal and in­ter­na­tion­al kids an ex­pe­ri­ence which they may not have re­ceived oth­er­wise".

He added: "I was thrilled that bmo­bile want­ed to in­clude our school in this tour. The or­gan­i­sa­tion of this event was ex­cel­lent and the re­sponse from the stu­dents was price­less". The British Acad­e­my cur­rent­ly has stu­dents from Eng­land, Spain, France the Ba­hamas, Venezuela, Ar­genti­na, and var­i­ous parts of Latin Amer­i­ca. Dur­ing the day the young au­di­ence amazed their teach­ers by singing pop­u­lar So­ca se­lec­tions word for word and some kids even braved pub­lic scruti­ny by step­ping up to ex­press them­selves mu­si­cal­ly on the mi­cro­phone.
