Arima Boys RC Primary School held its annual Carnival fete last weekend at a new venue. Usually held on the school's compound, committee members decided that this year they would expand with the Arima Velodrome as the new location. The public's response to the change was overwhelming. Chutney band Karma, with lead singer Ravi B, performed and struggled to move the Arima crowd. Ravi B, who placed second at the recent National Chutney Soca Monarch finals, was once again the centre of attention.
The singer, who previously apologised for his command to the audience to pelt the Skinner Park stage at the finals for his belief that he should have won, seems still angry over the decision. While singing he repeatedly asked the crowd if they believed he should have won the two-million-dollar first prize. The response was less that favourable for the singer even though he tried to use his Sangre Grande roots to gain sympathy for his cause.
Rikki Jai in a recent performance, publicly condemned the singer for his actions and even went as far as to call him "spoilt" and a sore loser. Cassie and Patch, who have been riding the soca circuit as a team this year, were also showcased. Soca band Traffik was the highlight of the night as lead singer Eddie Charles showed that he can dance with the best.
