The demise of the Plymouth Jazz Festival, the Cayman Jazz Festival, and more recently the Barbados Jazz Festival has left jazz lovers in somewhat of a bind. But local jazz faithfuls can be assured that T&T's premier open-air jazz festival will continue to cater to their desire for top-notch, Caribbean and international jazz. The ninth edition of Jazz Artists on the Greens (JAOTG) will be held on April 9 on The Greens at the WASA compound in St Joseph. Patrons are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, hats, sunscreen and blankets to sit on the ground and enjoy the festival up-close on the comfortable lawn. Off-street parking will be available at car parks located adjacent to and within walking distance of the venue.
Since its inception in 2003, JAOTG has been produced and presented annually by Production One Ltd.
In 2011, the event promises a powerful mix of contemporary Caribbean jazz styles, delivered by some of the most talented performers to grace our stage. The featured performers on the main stage are Caribbean jazz pianist, Canada-based Eddie Bullen; steelpan phenom Mikhail Salcedo; Cuban clarinetist/saxophonist sensation Ernesto Camilo Vega; vocalist Niquet Goldson from Jamaica; and vocalist Marisa Lindsay of Barbados. Prior to the start of the main stage presentations, the Holistic Music School Jazz Band will welcome arriving patrons by performing on the side stage. Food, drinks, CDs, musical instruments and festival memorabilia will be on sale, and there will be giveaways and door prizes . Advance tickets for Jazz Artists On The Greens 2011 are already available online at Hyperlink "http://jaotg11trinidad.eventbrite.com/"
