The 25th annual Tobago Heritage Festival kicked off on July 15 under the theme, Celebrating the journey, we come from far. This year's festival continued the drive to preserve the island's traditions through reflection on the progress the island has made over the past 25 years. Digicel is in its fifth year of support for this spectacular island-wide event, in which each of the nine villages honour their heritage through unique performances of song, dance and drama.
Digicel has also partnered with the Moriah Community Council to sponsor the Moriah Ole Time Wedding for the past three years, one of the biggest and most popular of the village events. The 2011 "Wedding" was no different on July 23, having all the pomp and ceremony associated with an event of this nature. Digicel's financial support to this year's festival will help the Tobago Heritage Festival continue to provide a window into the past for visitors and locals alike to become ensnared in the music, dancing and vibrant imagery of the Tobago of the early 1900s.
